Yawarda Services

Horses Helping Young Aboriginal People
Partner With Us to Deliver Hope, Healing, and Change

Who We Are

Yawarda Services is an Aboriginal-led charity transforming the lives of Aboriginal children and young people in regional WA. Through horses and healing on Country, we help young people find strength, confidence, and a sense of belonging.

Research phase already backed by Murdoch University, Telethon and Mineral Resources, we’re now seeking new partners to keep the program running and reach more kids who need it most.

Why It Matters

  • 1 in 3 Aboriginal children in WA are at risk of poor life outcomes across education, justice, and health.
  • Suicide is the leading cause of death for Aboriginal youth.
  • Too many young people are falling through the cracks of mainstream services.

Yawarda Services offers something different:

  • Safe, healing spaces with horses that help children open up and learn new skills
  • Strong Aboriginal role models guiding them in culture and resilience
  • Pathways to school, training, and work that break cycles of disadvantage

The Impact So Far

  • Improved school attendance and learning engagement
  • Reduced behavioural incidents and contact with justice system
  • Stronger cultural identity and emotional wellbeing
  • Contributing to 16 of the 19 Closing the Gap targets

Few programs in Australia can show this level of impact across so many areas.

Why Partner With Us

  • Proven and trusted – already funded by Telethon and Mineral Resources
  • Culturally safe – led by Aboriginal people, designed for Aboriginal communities
  • High impact per dollar – every contribution advances 16 Closing the Gap targets
  • Brand alignment – visible, positive community impact aligned with your RAP commitments and ESG goals

Funding Needs

We need funds to:

  • Keep our doors open to Aboriginal children in need
  • Care for the horses, deliver programs, and employ Aboriginal youth workers
  • Expand to reach more young people across WA

We are inviting corporate partners and philanthropic foundations to stand with us. With your support, we can give more Aboriginal children the chance to heal, grow, and thrive.
